Pumpkin spice everything has returned and you know what that means? Fall is in full effect! With the change in the season comes a change in the world of fashion and beauty. There are a lot of trends making their way from the catwalk to the mainstream, but we’ve sifted through all of the looks that came down the runway and picked the trends that we feel our Boca Raton, FL, salon clients would appreciate the most. We know our clients are fashion-forward and vibrant, and the trends we are highlighting are perfect for you!

Short Cuts– If you’ve ever dreamed of chopping off your long locks for something short and sweet—now is the time. The Fashion Week runways were filled with haircuts that range from blunt chin-length styles to romantic pixie cuts. Not sure what would work for you? Schedule a consultation with one of our experts and he/she will be able to help you pick a style that works with your face shape and hair texture.

Vivid hair– For the last few years, the unicorn hair (or mermaid hair) trend has been going strong. It seems like everywhere you look there is someone with vivid colored hair brightening the day. This trend is one of our favorites at our Boca Raton, FL, salon because it allows our stylists to have tons of creative freedom. Thinking about popping some color? There are many ways to do this. You can opt for a whole head of pink (or any color for that matter) or subtle pops of color (think rose gold or mauve) in specific sections of your hair.

Tousled waves– We love beachy waves at Salon Sora, so we’re excited to see this trend  continue into the fall. This look can be achieved at home by using styling products and a curling wand. If you don’t feel like fussing with your hair, you can schedule a blowout and one of our stylists will help you get the look while you relax and browse through a magazine.

Vampy lipstick– As soon as PSL season rolls in, so do the vampy lip colors. Deep reds, browns, and greige (the result of combining gray and beige together) will continue to trend this fall. To change things up this fall experiment with different lipstick textures. We know that matte lipstick has been a staple, but don’t forget about the other options that are available such as metallic lipsticks and lip stains.

Oct 4 Fifth Pic

Natural Makeup- Lips may be making a statement this season, but as for the rest of your makeup look it’s all about keeping it simple. The world of fashion is striding towards inclusivity and embracing natural beauty. This season keep your makeup look clean and minimal with light-coverage foundation and taupe lids. To add a subtle pop of color, opt for a peachy blush or eyeshadow.

Oct 4 Sixth Pic

Avant-garde nails– When it comes to nail trends, this season’s hottest look isn’t for the mani minimalist. In fact, it’s everything but minimal. The nails that graced the runways were bold and individual works of art. Think prints, texture, sparkles, and mini works of art on all 10 fingers. Now we know that real life isn’t a runway, so there are ways to make these looks more wearable for the everyday woman. Stay on trend this season by trying on some custom nail art at Salon Sora.

7 Summer Beauty Trends You Need To Know About
The temperature is starting to sizzle in South Florida and although we may still be weeks away from the official start of summer, we’ve been seeing some of the season’s best trends popping up all around Boca Raton. We love being part of such a fashion-forward community and find a tremendous amount of inspiration from our clients, as well as from the catwalks of New York Fashion Week. We’ve combined all of our fashionable influences and industry knowledge to bring you a guide on some of the best beauty trends for summer 2017 and how you can achieve them with help from Salon Sora, the best hair salon in Boca Raton, FL.facials boca raton fl
Peach everything- When it comes to makeup, everything is “just peachy” right now. From pastel peach washed lids, to lips, and cheeks, we can’t get enough of the sherbet shade. One of our favorite makeup products to embrace this trend is the Peach Palette by Too Faced. This palette has a good selection of peachy tones, as well as neutrals in finishes that vary from shimmery to matte.SSBlog2Pic2
Top knot 2.0- An effortless top knot is just what you need to beat the heat in Boca Raton. Elevate your look this season by adding a bandana or bow to your knot. If you really want to have some fun, French braid the back half of your hair before creating your knot? Not sure how to braid? Schedule an appointment at our hair salon in Boca Raton, FL and have one of our Salon Sora stylists help you achieve the look.nail salon boca raton
Metallic manis– Metallic nails are trending this season and it’s a look that has become popular in Boca Raton. Our clients have left our nail salon in Boca Raton with full on metallic nails, as well as with gentle metallic touches. Next time you come in for a manicure, talk to your manicurist about how you can incorporate a metallic hue into your nail design.SSBlog2pic4
Sun-kissed skin- It’s easy to pick up a healthy glow in South Florida, especially if you’ve ever spent time on our newly remodeled Terrance. For those that prefer a sun-free alternative, get the look by dusting some bronzer on your cheek, jawline, and forehead.

Get your glow on- Highlighter is a must-have in your makeup bag right now. With this trend being so popular, the market is filled with options. Most people opt for a powder highlighter, but a liquid highlighter is also a great option for those who have dry skin. We recommend applying highlighter on your cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose, Cupid’s bow, brow bone and in the inner corners of your eyes. This will give you a radiant and youthful appearance. For a subtle glow, add a few drops of liquid highlighter to your foundation to achieve a lit from within look.
SSBlog2Pic5
Guess who’s back? Half and half hairstyles- Yep, the half up half down looks are back. Whether you opt for a top knot or a pony, you’ll fit right in this season.SSBlog2Pic6
Blush nails- If you haven’t heard, blush is the new neutral. This color, also known as millennial pink has been popping up everywhere. We really like blush as a nail polish color because it is versatile and compliments all skin tones. For a modern twist on a French manicure, ask your manicurist at our nail salon in Boca Raton to use blush instead of white during your next manicure.

Salon Sora’s Favorite Nail Colors You Can Wear Year-Round

By | Manicures and Pedicures | No Comments

Nothing is better than a day of pampering with a good manicure. That is unless it’s a mani-pedi! When your hands are well cared for, they can be more youthful in appearance along with a multitude of other benefits. However, it seems that nail polish or color seems almost seasonal, limiting you to the choices you can make when your manicurist tells you to “pick out a color.”  In this week’s blog, we point out some of our favorite Salon Sora nail colors that won’t restrict you during any month! Ready, rev up your nail file and let’s go!

Pale shades of pink, beige and blue are super beautiful no matter what day it is. The shiny finishes can help to elongate the fingers and make them look slender. Think of clean and pure when selecting your favorite pastel shade. Be sure to complete the matte colors with a beautiful top coat for extra luster.

Next, let’s consider glitter. Whether you’re placing a coating of glitter as an accent to the tip or cuticle of the nail or you’re going for a cover-all effect, glitter is one of the hottest decorations that will enhance any manicure. The best part is, there’s no limit to how many times per year you can coat your nails with this sparkly finish! We just love the bling at Salon Sora!

Monochromatic shades of gray, black and white have no limitations for showing off your ring fingers. Try a lighter gray or pure white for spring and summer and then switch to the alluring and sexy black colors for fall and winter. One thing you can be sure of is your hands will stick out no matter what shade you choose and these colors all look perfect for people who like to keep their nails short and squared.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen a real switch from conservative to totally out there. That’s okay, and we love the wild just like the rest of you. Some ultra-chic colors to consider if you’re a bit ferocious is the perfect shade of blue. Ever since this color hit fashion magazines everywhere, you can see people scrambling to grab their favorite shade to match their style and mood. Even superstar, Jennifer Lopez has her select colors of jade, turquoise, and the Caribbean. When you live in a place like Boca Raton, these colors never go out of style. Love it!

As you know, there’s a rainbow of colors to choose from out there. These are just a few that we love that are the standard go to’s when you can’t decide. If all else fails, ask your amazing manicurist!

New Year’s Eve Manicure’s Salon Sora Style

By | Manicures and Pedicures, Nail Salon | No Comments

boca raton nail salonsThis year you can bedazzle any one of your colleagues or family members when you give out their presents with a sexy-chic manicure that’s sure to make an impression. We’ve got just the colors and styles right at your fingertips. No pun intended. Get your cell phone ready because after reading this blog you’ll want to make an appointment! Ready? Go!

While we’ve seen the hot look of a chrome wrapped car, this 2017 you can rock out with chrome plated nails. Ask you, manicurist, to see a variety of shades from dark gun metal to gold foil. These colors are ultra-sexy and are ready to click the champagne glasses right along with you.

Unwrapping gifts can be super embarrassing when your nails are on the fritz! Try out a short style with well-manicured and groomed cuticles to match. There’s nothing worse than taking a beautiful photo with your nail bed and cuticle looking like it’s ready to star in Halloween. Don’t hide your hands, be proud of them with a professional ‘mani.’

Depending on your work schedule if you’re able to sport the longer nails then try a new shape such as coffin or stiletto to pump up your style. Another shape that’s sweet is the tapered square which is much like the coffin only it’s wider at the ends.

Don’t be afraid to get trendy with the glitter and transition techniques. We’ve seen so many variations of this from one nail painted to half and half or just glitter tips. A super smoking look is using flat paint finishes with glitter accents on one or many nails. Shiny and matte are the latest trends in the nail world.

It’s cute when people can pull it off, but a decal or two for the holidays is nail art. Think snowflakes (even if you live in Boca) bows, bling, sparkle and candy canes to liven up any paint job out there. Salon Sora knows you’ve got character, now let’s see you use it!

From your head to your toes we want you to be the princess at the ball. Keep in mind 90% is you attitude the rest you can leave to us for making you look stunning before the ball drops. Ask you manicurist for the look that’s right for you.

Holiday Nails by Salon Sora for 2016

By | Manicures and Pedicures, Nail Salon | No Comments

This year if you’re looking to be sexy from your head down to your toes, Salon Sora can help you put your finger on just the right seasonal polish and nail art that will help you go from super to super-sexy in 2.5 minutes! Let’s point to the obvious, shall we?Nail salon boca raton fl

First, let’s say clean and healthy nails are in style no matter what season it is. A French or American manicure never seems to be old-school. However, add something chic to your white tips like glitter or gold to accent the already super-girl handle.

Gold foil designs over shades of green and red can tip things off when it comes to nail art. Ask your manicurist what his/her favorite design is this year, and we’re sure they’ll give you a dynamite and decorative pattern that will keep your hands from being hidden inside your pocket.

Geometric patterns are not only contemporary, but they’re also very popular throughout the fashion magazines. Bring in the look if you find something you admire and we’ll see if we can’t copy it. Be sure to browse through Pinterest to get a different perspective.

When you live in a place such as Southern Florida, you’ll find it’s not appropriate table manners to have dirty, dingy nails. Try a new shade of blue or a pearly pink to brighten up your fingertips even when you’re not sporting a tan.

If you’re into cute, think about adding a few snowflakes or some contemporary lace designs. This type of nail art is perfect for both child and adult and are ideal for the 2016 to 2017 holidays.

Black and Gold is a hot commodity for classic nail techniques. We’ve seen a lot of faded techniques as well. More nail technicians are focusing on the half-moons and decorating the nail beds from the cuticle up to the tip. Although this is opposite of what is typically requested, it’s a unique way of showing off those sexy nails.

Trying something new is half the fun. Be sure to look for a design or technique that will match your holiday gowns or outfit. Our manicurists will be happy to suggest the look that right for the dress or wardrobe. The best part is when you hear the compliments on how pretty your hands are for this year’s big celebrations.

Gift Giving the Salon Sora Way

By | Hair Salon, Manicures and Pedicures | No Comments

holidayAs part of the tradition, gift giving during the holidays continues to be on the forefront of everyone’s mind. Not only is finding the right gift valuable, but the reason or message behind the gift is also equally essential. (that is if you want the person to continue speaking with you) We at Salon Sora believe this week’s blog will help those in search of foolproof gifts that will make you look like a skilled gift giver of sorts…. Read on!

Everyone likes to be pampered, and there’re no two ways around it. Finding gifts that make a person feel special should be your utopia. Whether you give someone a gift certificate for a soothing massage or a detoxifying facial, your directive should entail wrapping the gift with intricate packaging or use a surprise element like tying a gift card to the end of a bouquet of beautiful balloons. The point is not to hand a gift card to someone and think they’ll get the same experience. Go the extra mile with ribbons and bows, and they’ll cherish the memory forever.

Next, contemplate things you can do together, such as booking a mani-pedi. Ladies, don’t think your man will frown upon this terrific gift either. People are becoming more in-tune with their feminine side and having you next to them while the manicurist gives them a fantastic foot massage may just be the flame needed to light your fire. (Just saying).

Now you understand the element of surprise and pampering; we’ll talk about encouragement. Giving someone inspiration to do something that person has always dreamed of, not only encourages them but, maybe they didn’t have the courage says wonders about you. For instance, if your mom or sister has always wanted to cut her hair short but was afraid, why not book them an appointment with an experienced stylist to give them their makeover. Furthermore, encouraging someone to do something that will change their appearance, may also change their entire outlook on life.

If your spouse or significant other isn’t looking forward to the company party or a family event, give them an early gift of getting hair and makeup done before your event. Let them know it’s an early present because you want them to shine at your celebration. Not too many people will turn you down for that one, rest assured.

Lastly, it is equally important to give yourself a gift of self-appreciation. Treat yourself to any one of our services as a way of saying, “Good Job” whether that’s for planning another first work party or finishing your shopping early. Either way, the holidays are a time to show people around them how meaningful they are and we’ve got a clever souvenir that’s ideal for anyone on your list. Until then, best of luck during your quest for gift giving.

We’d like to remind everyone to book your appointments early. Happy Holidays!

Manicures for the Boca’s Professional Women

By | Manicures and Pedicures, Nail Salon | No Comments

Nails for the Professional Woman

When it comes to your hands you may think that no one notices but your fingernails say a lot about who you are as a person. With all of the creative nail designs and shapes that we have today a can sometimes be a challenge in deciding what to ask your manicurist for. When it comes to professional women, however, more than self-expression meets the eye. But the real question is who’s eyes?

Without a doubt the way you groom your nails can give off a particular message which in some cases may not help you climb up the corporate ladder. Just because the trend may be a particular shape or a custom polish may not necessarily be the best choice. But what is acceptable and what you’re willing to live with maybe two different things.

First, let’s look at the different types of nail shapes for you to consider.

Kylie Jenner may have kicked off the ‘stiletto’ which is nothing new. You may remember your grandmother having long pointed nails. While those are great for giving a back scratch, they may not be what your boss is looking for. Depending on the line of work that you do this retro sharp nail shape may give off the wrong message.

Despite their stunning, the ‘coffin’ shape may be more acceptable on people like Barbra Streisand and not the vice president of marketing. The other issue is the length of your nails. The coffin shape tends to be a longer style compared to the square or round. If you are someone who spends multiple hours on the keyboard, you may want to consider a shorter version.

The most popular nail shapes would be square, oval, round and ‘squoval’ which is a hybrid between square and oval. The difference would be rounded edges as opposed to sharp and precise.

Another elegant shape to consider is that of ‘almond’ which tends to be a long in length and tapers off towards the tip but is rounded. Whichever shape you decide to keep in mind that activities such as typing, dialing a phone and opening boxes tend to wear on the shape in a short period of time. That holds true even with acrylic nails.

Now let’s discuss color. Color trends will come and go. While that is safe to say selecting a color that is neutral and subdued is your safest bet. French and American manicures are always safe and look elegant no matter what’s trending.

Stay away from bright colors, patterns, polka dots and weird color schematics. That is, unless your corporate officers will not scoff at your selection. It’s safe to say clean, conservative nails are best for professional women.

The dress code may be more liberal in fields such as art, fashion, retail, etc. but in verticals that are more conservative make sure that your choice of nail design proceeds.

Another thing to note is to make sure that your nails are always well manicured and clean. People will notice when your nail polish is chipped or peeling. They will also notice when your cuticles are dry and scaly. A biweekly visit to your manicurist will ensure that your nails are always looking their best.

Of course, these are a few suggestions for you to consider prior to your visit with your manicurist. However, only you know what’s best for the goals you’re trying to achieve.

Reserve your appointment today.
